چکیده

Results of internal friction measurements on the commercial aluminum-magnesium alloys 5052,5086 and 5486 are reported here over the temperature range 50 mK to 300 K, and compared with published data on alloy 5056. Effects of heat treatment and explosive bonds on the internal friction are evaluated. The quality factor of proposed multi-layer aluminum-alloy spherical resonant-mass detectors of gravity waves is shown to be seriously degraded, if layer interfaces exhibit large-amplitude wavy explosive bonds. Shear modulus variations from 50 mK to 10 K are obtained from high-resolution frequency measurements.

Effect of Temperature on Diffusion-Bonded Joint of AZ31 Magnesium and 7075 Aluminum Alloy

In this study, the effect of temperature on the diffusion welding of AZ31 magnesium alloy and 7075 aluminum was discussed. Diffusion welding temperature was the most important parameter since all mechanisms are sensitive to temperature in Diffusion welding method. Intrusive contacts between the two alloys at temperatures of 430, and 440 °C 450 and took 60 min. In all tests constant pressure and...

Effects of Alloying Additions and Cooling Rate on the Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of the Cast Al-Mg-Si Alloys

Cast aluminum alloys are widely applied for the transportation industry. Alloys with silicon and magnesium as the main alloying elements are the most important of the aluminum casting alloys because of their high fluidity. However, Al-Si-Mg alloys have exhibited medium strength level at room and, especially, at elevated temperature. Recently, new casting alloys with high magnesium and silicon h...

Laser Welding of Thin Sheet Magnesium Alloys

Magnesium and its alloys are active materials, and the oxide can easily form when they react with air and moisture (Czerwinski 2002). In addition, magnesium and its alloys are flammable and require strict safeguards during the manufacturing process. These disadvantages make the processing of magnesium alloys into finished products more challenging. These drawbacks cause defects such as cracks, ...

مقایسه خواص ریزساختاری و مکانیکی اتصالات نفوذی آلیاژهای5754، 6061 و 7039 آلومینیـوم به آلیاژ AZ31 منیـزیم

In this study, microstructure and mechanical properties of diffusion joints between 5754, 6061 and 7039 aluminum alloys and AZ31 magnesium alloy were investigated. Diffusion joints were done between the alloys at 440 °C, for duration of 60minutes, at 29 MPa pressure and under 1×10-4 torr vacuum. The interface of joints was studied using optical (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (S...
